Ignite Gear

Twenty five year old contemporary arts student Jess Twin is the individual behind Ignite Gear.

Undertaking a double degree in Contemporary Arts and Design at Edith Cowan University, Jess Twin credits her clothing designs to a range of influences, including abstract art, glamour, surrealism and a song from American Punk band, The Cramps.

The song Bikini Girls with Machine Guns inspires the motif of her current collection: clothing for sexy but dangerous girls.

A recent university visual arts project saw the designer cover the shell of a snail with diamontes, which later inspired her 'Glamour Puss' dress.

Jess Twin said she was fascinated by the idea of transforming a dirty pest into something beautiful, valuable and special, simply by its adornment.

The designer describes herself as a 'contemporary street artist' and her debut into photography saw her win two prizes last month at the Urban Princess photography competition, at the newly opened Ginger's Garage gallery on William Street.
