Australia’s most creative documentary photographers - Sean Flynn, Tim Page, Stephen Dupont, Jack Picone, Ben Bohane, Michael Coyne, Ashley Gilbertson and WA’s David Dare Parker - have covered conflicts from Vietnam to present day Afghanistan. With the courage of a soldier and the eye of a witness these photographers have created images of power and compassion that continue to influence public opinion.

Off The Wall is an exhibition showcasing photographic explorations on the theme of The Wall. It features works by a group of driven young photographers of vast vision and variety. Curating this group show is Natalie Blom and Krysia Cant, joint recipients of the Central Monart Scholarship. Natalie's images focus on the gritty textures of urban surfaces while Krysia uses creative lighting techniques for her images with dazzling results.
All participants in this show have been or are currently students at Central Institute of Technology (formerly TAFE). Through their years spent together in studying the art of image taking, delving into new and old techniques, film and digital, the group have grown close, striving to produce new and original works spurred on by the spirit and enthusiasm of their peers. Each view point is completely different and yet are somehow also aligned; something which can be said about both photo artist and their works.
The Wall is sometimes a place to express yourself but can also be a barrier that constrains. Images range from bold black and white prints, traditional cyanotpes through to striking colour digital prints. This show presents to the viewer a myriad of surfaces, textures and experiences.
